Councillor Joan Robson has declared her candidacy for the Ward 2 Local position. May 16, 2006 Press release: Halton Hills - Glen Williams: Councillor Robson has served two terms in her current role. Asked what she would say are some of her accomplishments, she lists steering of the Glen Williams Secondary Plan to passage by Council, monitoring of trucks in the hamlet areas, budgeting for rural road improvements, and regular meetings with the agricultural community, public awareness of veterans’ contributions through street naming, and highlighting the need to reduce seniors’ tax assessment. continues next column ...

In the next term, she says, “we must continue to focus on the 401 corridor to increase our industrial taxation base but, at the same time, be mindful of how those changes impact the local residents. This term will also be a crucial time for the hamlet of Glen Williams as it absorbs the growth outlined in the Glen Secondary Plan.” The cookie-cutter approach to development no longer works. We need to plan with buffers and greenspaces. Again, Councillor Robson emphasizes the huge role played by open and continued dialogue with residents. |
