Change to local provincial riding boundaries precipitates organizational update

April 3, 2006

Halton: MPP Ted Chudleigh said today that the boundaries of the riding of Halton will substantially change in time for the next provincial election expected in October
2007. The provincial government will soon enact legislation to mirror federal government riding boundaries across most of Ontario. These changes are already in
effect at the federal level.

The riding of Halton will be split.

The Town of Halton Hills will be joining much of Wellington County in the new riding of Wellington - Halton Hills. The new Halton riding will consist of the rest of the current riding of Halton with a small trade of residents with Burlington riding and the loss of some Oakville residents to Oakville riding.

In keeping with these changes, all political parties must form new riding associations to reflect these new boundaries. Progressive Conservative riding associations across the province will make the switch in the next few weeks.

"I will be making a formal announcement regarding my electoral intentions in the near future," Mr. Chudleigh said. "I am saddened at the break up of the current
riding, although due to population growth, it is becoming difficult for one person
to manage."
