Treasurer of School Councils Charged

February 7, 2006.

Halton - Halton Hills: An investigation by Halton Regional Police has led to theft
charges against the former Treasurer of the School Councils of Stewarttown Public School in Georgetown, J.M. Denyes School in Milton and W.I. Dick School in Milton.

The investigation was initiated following a complaint by the Halton District School Board. Irregularities had been discovered in the accounting practices of a parent who was the volunteer Treasurer of the three School Councils in the period from November 2002 to March 2005.

Investigation revealed that a total of approximately $30,000 was missing
from the accounts of the three schools.

Charged: Brenda Darlene PICKERING, 43 years of age, of Fourth Line, Halton Hills.

Charges: Theft Over $5000 (3 counts) and Utter a Forged Document, Contrary to the Criminal Code.

To appear in Court: February 22, 2006, at the Burlington Provincial Court.
