Community member FOI's Town for Perlin contract and Nine Acre
appraisal
Halton Hills - Georgetown:
The Halton Herald has learned private community member who
wishes to remain anonymous has filed two F.O.I.'s through the
Provinces Freedom of Information Act.
One of the F.O.I.'s is for the Town's new C.A.O.
Perlin's employment contract, while at the same time the private
member filed an additional F.O.I. to review the statement of
appraisal on the controversial nine acre parcel of property the
town traded with the exclusive private North Halton Golf &
Country Club.
According to the Town's 'Real Property
Disposal By-law', certain procedures must be followed when
disposing taxpayers real property. Unless the property is being
disposed to the Region Municipality of Halton, prior to the
disposal of real property, specific public notice of Council's
intention must be placed by way of advertisement in a newspaper
having circulation in the Town of Halton Hills must be
published. A written opinion of appraisal of the real property
must be obtained by an independent accredited registered member
of the A.I.C., as well as declaring the property as surplus
lands to the needs of the Town by resolution adopted by council.
Finally, a 'Certificate of Compliance' must be issued by the
Town Clerk.
