Town named town property after one of
its own?

'Robert C. Austin
Operations Centre' on Trafalgar Rd.
September 6th., 2005
Halton Hills -
Acton - Bob Austin - "The Shredder"
honoured by town facility being named after him.
Reported
in Acton's New Tanner October 6th, 2005;
"Tributes to Bob Austin at retirement party", the paper reports the
mayor unveiled the new sign, proclaiming the Engineering and Works building
on Trafalgar Road as the - "Robert C. Austin Operations Centre".
Many community
members are still reeling over Streets being named after council members in
at least two of Acton's newest subdivisions.
Quote from our forums;
"If only they
were as consumed in the everyday operations of town, as much as they are at
finding ways to immortalize their names on our streets and facilities, then
we might not have to deal with the fifty plus million dollar debt legacies
that Bob Austin's department had accumulated over his tenure as head of the
department, which now has one of its facilities named after him".
