Application Deadline for
Funds Available from Farm Income Payment Program (FIPP) is July 31st
OTTAWA – Michael Chong, MP for Wellington-Halton
Hills urges all farm producers who have not yet applied for funds
available through the Farm Income Payment Program (FIPP) to do so
before July 31, 2005.
The Farm Income Payment will provide $1 billion
in immediate federal assistance for cash-strapped Canadian farmers.
$841.5 million of this money will go to general payments for
eligible Canadian producers, which includes producers of all
commodities except supply-managed commodities, while $155 million of
this money will go to direct payments for producers of cattle and
other ruminants.
Mr. Chong said, “I encourage those farm producers
affected by low farm incomes to apply for these government funds.
The money is there to help out, but you need to ensure that you’ve
applied.”
