Ottawa - The Georgetown Children’s Chorus are eagerly anticipating their trip to Europe for the "In Grateful Thanks" tour, which will take place from May 4th-8th, 2005. The group will represent Canada at several key events in the Netherlands, such as the Remembrance Day services on May 4th, the services at the Canadian War Cemetery in Halton, and the Liberation of the Netherlands celebration on May 5th. Sixty children and teenagers, thirty adults and a number of veterans from both Acton & Georgetown will be attending the celebrations.

With the help of a donation from Veterans Affairs Canada of $5,000 they were able to meet their fundraising goals. Tom Schenk, Georgetown's Citizen of the Year and proud organizer of this tour, was very grateful for the request made by Michael to Veterans Affairs Canada and for the resulting donation.

Michael Chong said, "It's an important gesture from Veterans Affairs Canada to recognize and support the efforts of the Georgetown Children's Chorus who will be honouring our country and veterans with performances at several major events taking place in the Netherlands.”

The Georgetown Children's Chorus hosted a farewell concert on Sunday, May 1st at Knox Presbyterian Church, in Acton. Michael attended this farewell concert and wished the Chorus well as they embarked on their tour.
