Terry Alyman, Halton
Hills Parks &Rec. Director suspends Halton Hills community activist
from facility for taking pictures of safety issues.
March 1st, 2005
Stephen Grasby, who
has had an ongoing dialogue with the Town over safety concerns at
one of its Parks & Rec. facility - the Gellert Community Centre,
received a registered letter from the Parks & Recreation director,
Terry Alyman, informing Grasby that he had been suspended for 90
days from using the facility for taking pictures of the safety
issues he was raising with the Town.
The Town, who Grasby says has had copies of the pictures since
November, 2004, used the no picture clause recently adopted earlier
this year, as a reason to
suspended him from the facility exactly one week after an article
was published in the Toronto Star titled "Change
rooms a sodden mess"
a story about the very safety issues Grasby had been reporting to
the Town since last November of 2004, and eventually picked up by
the Star.
